Hey GIRL (that’s you, our Grace In the Race Ladies):

Happy 4th!

We wish you a day filled with nostalgic family traditions like melty bomb-pops, sparklers, that token American flag tank-top you scored at Target six years ago, and grilled-everything!

We hope that you give yourself grace in all your pursuits and that today represents a celebration of your ongoing pursuit of happiness.

We hope today reinvigorates your love for this country and your commitment to the declaration upon which it stands.

Thank you for being here. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and may it kick off an extraordinary week!

Oh, and play safe with those sparklers... it's really the quintessential 4th of July social-distancing activity!

GRACE IN FAMILY

  • Summer travel is iffy this year. Are you getting away? It is said that RV travel is off the charts right now. RVshare is a rental site similar to AirB&B. Have you tried it? I'm intrigued but the notion doesn't come without reservations (pun intended)... I'm trying to picture myself behind the wheel (and I keep picturing my foot on the gas and it's a socked-sandal... Ugh, the image is burned in my brain)... there must be RV lessons, right? Is there a YouTube for that?

GRACE IN WELLNESS

  • The 4th of July is often an excuse to make exceptions to your healthy eating plan. Get back on track after the weekend by following these steps!

  • In the aftermath of last week's funk, I've committed to an improved mindset. Some days are better than others. But, in the words of Don Miguel Ruiz, "your best will sometimes be high quality, and other times it will not be as good." That's grace! With the help of Masterful Manifesters, I'm actively working on meditation and visualization and I'm noticing a difference - click that link to check out their work and get their FREE e-book! GRACE AT HOME

  • With COVID numbers on the uptick, we might be settling in again. Knowing what we know, it will be important to plan ahead, to spark joy in an effort to keep a second wave of funk at bay. What will you do to prepare your home in case of a second-round of quarantine (now that you have plenty of toilet paper stocked up)? I'm going to focus on my me-space... is it too late to build a she-shed? Do I need a permit for that?... I might have to resort to building a fort in my closet... I wonder if my wine fridge will fit up there... there are many important things to consider!

  • In "The Paradox of the Declaration of Independence", Leslie Greene Bowman explains that Independence Day and the freedoms it represents weren't extended to everyone. And, that Thomas Jefferson’s "most enduring legacy is not what he intended the Declaration of Independence to mean, but how succeeding generations have drawn inspiration from its words. History has proven that the prospect of equality and human freedom — life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — belongs to all people, in all ages."

Spotify: Summer BBQ Playlist - This playlist elicits so many fond memories! (I feel another dance party coming on.)

Recipe: Strawberry Pretzel Jello - This has been a party favorite in our family for years! If you've never tried it, it might seem like a strange combination but trust me, you're going to love it! We use gluten-free pretzels! Oh, and we usually top it with just strawberries but the flag design seemed fitting for today!
